Ma'Daerah this week. The team members are Amar Amirul, Omar, Abdul Hadi Rasydan
and Muhd Nur Haziq.
To raise awareness on the importance of protecting our planet & the need for everyone within Al Irsyad -teachers, parents & school children to take action. We believe if teachers, parents & students work together and demonstrate school own conservation efforts to improve our environment, insyaAllah our young Irsyadians have a better chance of growing up to do the same.

Students Team Meeting
Adopt-Potted-Plants Campaign by Year 4, 5 and 6
Date event : April 2009
In support of SRAIB Goes Green Campaign, each class of Year 4, 5 and 6 took
responsibility adopting 5 potted plants each. They are to ensure the potted
plants are healthy by watering, fertilizing and pruning them.
The main intention of this assignment is to let Irsyadians;
1. Have a sense of ownership in maintaining greens @school to
reduce carbon,
2. Feel they are part of the school activities to reduce carbon
footprints, and
3 Cultivate their love for plants and greens from young.

Pahang's Environmental Department (DOE) was invited to give a talk to Irsyad's students on environmental issues. The program was held at the school's hall and was led by Puan Corina Mat Amin, a DOE officer. The information given was indeed informative to students. There were some slide shows and videos showing seriousness of climate change and other environmental issues. There was a question n answer session at the end of the program to gauge students' understanding on climate change and other environmental issues.The whole program lasted for 2 hours . Apart from her talk, DOE also put up some environmental posters on displays for students to read and gave away environmental materials/pamplets for students to take home.

Carbon Challenge for Teachers
Carbon Challenge for Irsyad's Teachers?...Well, teachers too need to raise their level of understanding on this current carbon issues , to assist their students in understanding the issues of carbon footprints. Besides , it also helps our teachers to be aware of how they can contribute their effort in reducing carbon @ school
The Carbon Challenge(CC) session for Teachers was actually held on Tuesday, May 5th 2009. We had good attendance, about 18 teachers turned up and participated in this session. The session was led by Puan Raja Tatina from BPCM and assisted by seven volunteers from BPCM.
The CC started with an explanation on BP industry and what they produce. The session later continued with a quiz about enviromental issues where each of the teachers was given a keypad to answer the quiz questions. Then, they were divided into four groups for group presentation. Each of the group received an envelop and they had to present on what they know ,based on the given topic from the envelope. Various presentation styles were used that day. In the end, the group with best performance was chosen as the winner and presented with beautiful BP tokens.

Another myScience's activity was organized during school's Sport day. A booth was setup with the help from BP volunteers, to give awareness to parents/students on climate change problem and what parents can do to reduce carbon foot print at home. A banner was displayed with 10 listed suggestions to be done at home to reduce carbon footprint . The banner were signed by parents to demostrate their pledge to reduce carbon foot at home. There were also pledges from parents to contribute plants and $$ for school's Irsyad goes Green campaign!!

Recycling Effort @ SRAIB....
The Recycling @ SRAIB started on Mar 20th 2009 , after we managed to get used bins from a nearby factory. To show a recycle effort from the start, school decided to use used bins rather than getting new plactic bins from MPK .Teachers and some students has joined effort painting the recycle bins. The bins were then labeled as for Plastic, Paper , Glass and Aluminium Bins. Students were encouraged to bring any of these recycle items from home.
The objectives of this programme are;
1. To educate students always recycle and reuse,
2. To educate students to love their nature and protect their earth from
pollution, and
3. To educate students try to reduce the uses of paper to decrease the tree
cutting.

Alhamdulillah for aluminium recycling, we have managed to get 200 cans since
launching.

All recycling items were successfully sold to a recycling company. The total
weight was 32 kg.
Painting Used Recycle Bins

Students Year 2 were required to collect recycle items such as papers,
plastics, bottles etc. The class that collected the most will be announced as a winner. The campaign started from 15th June till 25th June 2009.

All recycling items were successfully sold to a recycling company. The total
sold in weight is 197kg.

The heaviest recycling materials collected from Year 2 went to Class 2 Usman
(10.7 kg) followed by Class 2 Ali (10.46 kg) and Class 2 Bilal (1.6 kg).

We also received recycled papers from parents. Seen students and teachers worked together to arrange and bind the papers before being sold.

Recycling items (papers and plastics) were successfully sold this morning to the
recycling company (Naturage Sdn Bhd). The total weight of recycling items is
209kg.

1 Abu Bakar - 6.02 kg, 1 Umar - 10.45 kg, 1 Khadijah - 22.95 kg)
The total weight of Year 3's recycle items is 175.42 kg
3 Talhah - 19.02 kg, 3 Zubair - 49.4 kg, 3 Sufiyyah - 107 kg
